Painted Toenails

A couple of weeks ago Emma saw me painting my toenails in the bathroom and asked if I would paint hers also.  I have tried to paint her toenails before when she was about 15 months and it didn’t got over very well.  Apparently, she was READY this time.  She sat very still and did everything I told her to do… except for stay still after I painted her toenails so they could dry.  She was so excited that she ran through the house to show Koby and Daddy, thus resulting in smudged toenails.  She didn’t seem to mind though!

She asked me to re-paint them the very next night but I told her we needed to leave the current polish on for at least a week. (How’s that for a mom rule made up on the spot!)

Since that night she has enjoyed pretending to paint with a fingernail polish bottle (the lid is screwed on VERY tightly!)  She pretends to pain her knees, Koby’s nose, Daddy’s elbow, etc.

I have to admit that her painted toenails look really cute with her sandals… just in time for summer.

Emma is a natural-born shopper and I love it!  Maybe it has something to do with the fact that she has gone to Target with me every week since she was born and has watched me try on clothes, laugh at myself in the mirror, etc. countless times.

Now when we go shopping, SHE has definite opinions.  Opinions about clothes for her, clothes for me, clothes for daddy, etc.  I think I like it that she has opinions but I can see it becoming a problem in the near future!

We went to Owasso to do some low-key shopping just a couple of weeks ago and she loved trying on sunglasses.  She felt pretty cool as you can tell!

 

After all of this serious shopping, we took a break and each had a yummy Jamba Juice smoothie.  She loved it!

“Where’s Emma?”

One of Emma’s favorite games right now is hide-and-seek.  She thinks it is hilarious!  Daddy is a really good sport about playing hide-and-seek with her in her room- keep in mind there are only so many places to hide in her room: behind the rocking chair, behind the door, IN the crib, behind the curtains, in the closet.  These are the standard hiding places. 

She loves to hide from us too and when she hides she yells, “Where’s Emma?  Come find me!”  Then she usually says something like, “I’m hiding by your bed mommy”, or “Daddy, I’m in your office!”  We are trying to teach her not to tell us where she’s hiding but she just can’t help it.   She giggles non-stop when we find her.

“Under the Big Top”

I’m a little behind on blogging (again) so these pictures are from several weeks ago.  I can’t just skip over some events though, right?

We had fun preschool play day at our church on April 18th called “Under The Big Top.”  Unfortunately it was rainy that day, so we had to move the festivities indoors.  It turned out really great though, and Emma had a very fun time. 

I was working at the event (I popped popcorn for the kiddos!), so daddy brought Emma.  He said that it took her a while to warm up, but once she saw her buddy Aubrey, she came alive and started playing.   Her favorite station was the jump house where she jumped for about 20 minutes straight.  She LOVES to jump.

She was NOT a fan of the clowns though… maybe she’ll outgrow this fear by next year’s carnival.

Easter 2009

Emma had a very eventful Easter this year!  We started celebrating about a week before the actual holiday. :)  Her first Easter present of the year came from sweet Aunt Judy.

Aunt Judy gave Emma a really funny Nemo book that makes sounds- she LOVES it.  She takes it bed with her every night and we hear the Nemo voices for about 30 minutes after we put her ‘to sleep.’   She also got some cute fish that make bubble sounds and a really cool coral ring that lights up.  Emma was really into the Easter mode after opening these very cool presents.

 

A couple of evenings later Nana brought Emma an Easter basket  (because we wouldn’t get to see Nana on Easter.)  Emma loved the basket and all of the goodies inside of it.  She got some sparkle shoes, a cute pink shirt, a pink bunny, and some stickers.  Her favorite thing was a bunny on a bicycle that had jelly beans inside.  We had to buy refill jelly beans when the initial jelly beans were all gone. :)  She decided that she’s a fan of jelly beans.

 

Thursday before Easter we decided to try on our Easter dress- you know- to make sure it fit. :)  Emma loved trying it in.  She danced in circles and made her skirt ‘swish’ like a princess. 

 

We headed to Arlington on Thursday night after I got off of work.  We had a great weekend with Robin’s family.  (more on that in the next post.)  We started our Easter festivities there on Saturday with and indoor/outdoor Easter egg hunt brought to you by Gigi, Uncle Tommy, Aunt Crystal, and Mommy.  We hid about 40 eggs thinking that Emma would find them in a hurry.  However, she was not in a hurry.  She spotted the eggs with her eyes, but didn’t feel the need to pick them up!  She would have been content to let mommy and daddy do all of the work for her.  Thankfully, she picked up a little bit of steam towards the end of the hunt.

Emma Goes to Elmo!

Last Sunday, April 5th, Robin and our good friend John were very brave and decided to take their “girls” to see Elmo Live.  Emily is about 5 months younger than Emma and they have a lot of fun together.  I was very proud of the dads for attempting this huge feat on their own!  I think the girls felt really cool going on a date with ‘just the dads.’

Robin said that Emma did really well throughout the show but she had a lot of questions and was very concerned when certain characters would leave the stage.  She’d say, “Daddy, where’d the bear go?”  Robin tried to explain that the bear “isn’t in this scene” and Emma was not satisfied with that answer- she wanted to know “WHERE’D the bear go???   I guess it’s hard to tell a 2 year old to just sit back and enjoy the show and not think too much.  :) 

Robin also said that she kept asking to see Elmo “on TV.”  Robin explained that this was “better than TV- we are seeing Elmo LIVE.”  Emma still wanted to see Elmo on TV!  I guess that’s what she is used to!

During the 2nd half, Robin, John, Emily, and Emma sat with our good friends, The Webbs.    The more the merrier when watching Elmo, right?

Great-Grandparents’ Visit

Robin’s Grandparents made a stop in Tulsa last Thursday evening on their way back from visiting all of their other Great-Grandchildren in Arkansas last week.  We had a great time going out to dinner and showing them our new house.  They stayed with us on Thursday night and Emma did NOT want to go to sleep- she wanted to play all night long with Grandmom.  She kept making her run from each of the tunnel to play peek a boo.  Grandmom definitely got a work out!

We were AMAZED that Gradmom, in her early 80’s has 10 times more energy than Emma’s parents do in their early 30’s.    What’s wrong with that picture?
